In Loving Memory of Dr. Pamela Baker

Dr. Pamela Baker, a devoted wife, esteemed educator, and dedicated community servant, peacefully passed away on January 17th, 2024. Born on August 4th, 1962, in Topeka, Kansas, Pamela's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to faith, family, and service.

Pamela's educational journey was a testament to her passion for learning and advocacy. She earned her B.S. and M.S. in education from Kansas State University, and her commitment to special education led her to attain a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas. For 17 years, she served as the program coordinator for special populations instructional and support at Region 10 Education Service Center in Richardson, Texas. Prior to that, she dedicated eight years to the Texas Education Agency, where she served as the managing director for Special Education Reviews. Her impact was profound, creating and implementing a state accountability system that monitored and improved special education programs across the state.

In her recent retirement, Pamela continued to embody the spirit of service. She served as the 2nd Vice District Governor for the Wylie Evening Lions Club and as the secretary of the Dallas County Disproportionality and Disparities Committee. Pamela was an active member of the Collin County LifePath Systems Planning and Network Planning Committee, the Wylie Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for key women educators. She also held the position of Secretary at Faithpointe Church of God in Christ in Sachse, TX, where her faith and dedication to the community shone brightly.

Family was at the core of Pamela's life. She shared 40 years of marriage with her beloved spouse, Ray L. Baker. Together, they not only built a strong marital bond but also served their community through music, prison, and marriage ministry. Pamela's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her surviving siblings: Roy Bynum (Delois), Bruce Bynum (Brenda), Annett Bynum, and Del-Metri Williams (Rudolph). She was preceded in death by her parents, Sgt. Lon and Mrs. Sedalia Bynum, and her sister, Uhura Bynum. Pamela's love and guidance will be cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Pamela Baker's legacy is a tapestry woven with threads of faith, family, and service. Her impact on education, community, and the lives she touched will endure as a lasting tribute to a life well-lived.
