Member Spotlight

Joanna Robertson loves to laugh. She continually exudes joy and positivity, and she brings this energetic and uplifting spirit to her classroom and DKG.


Joanna grew up in Glendale, Arizona and attended Kachina Elementary and Cactus High School. She attended TAMU-Commerce and holds teaching certifications in Agricultural Science & Technology, Life Sciences, and Science. Joanna began her teaching career at Lucas Christian Academy in 2007. She then moved to Wylie to teach 8th grade science in 2015. During her time in Wylie, she was named Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2018. She was also the SkillsUSA Middle School advisor for 5 years, where she led this group of students to stellar success. She has taught science and technology classes at both the Middle and High School levels, including Biology and STEM.


Joanna's favorite part of teaching is " working with students and seeing the joy on their faces when they get something they have been struggling with."


Joanna joined DKG in the fall of 2018, after being invited by member Rosa Herrera. Her favorite part of DKG is the comradery with her sisters and learning how to be a better person. She currently serves on Nu Gamma's Chapter Unity Committee.


Joanna has two adult children who were both married in 2022, effectively doubling her family. She is very active in her church and loves singing in the choir. She also loves to vacation in Tennessee and Colorado, enjoys knitting, working in her garden, completing projects around her home, and catching up with good friends.


Joanna is an exceptional educator, friend and servant leader. We value her membership and are so grateful she is a part of our Nu Gamma Chapter.
