One-on-One Online Tutoring

The One-on-One Online Tutoring is an initiative adapted to continue Chinese language education across the geographical bounds. This initiative engages overseas students who would like to increase their oral proficiency in the Chinese language with our graduate student tutors from the Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. The graduate student tutors will facilitate customized online 1:1 oral Chinese practice sessions that are between 15 - 45 minutes long on a weekly basis. The tutors are paired up with students from the collaborating institutions who are currently enrolled in Chinese language courses.

Session content is organized based on students’ learning progress in their credit courses and their prior proficiency. This will allow students to apply learned materials more frequently and supplement their learning in the classroom.

Thus far, NTU has collaborated with the University of Texas at Austin and Harvard University on this initiative and has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both participating students and the coordinating faculty.
