The duration of stay begins the day after arrival.
Visa-exempt entry can NOT be extended or converted to another visa type within Taiwan. You must leave and re-enter Taiwan to renew your stay (except for British and Canadian citizens).
Since visa-exempt entry does NOT allow for an extended stay, you should carefully evaluate whether your total time in Taiwan (including any days before or after the program) will exceed 90 days.

Visa applications and obtaining a certified health certificate from approved physicians can take time, so we recommend starting the process as early as possible to complete all requirements on time.
A Visitor Visa is extendable as long as there are no other annotations indicating otherwise. You may apply for extension once or twice, depending on your Visa duration; the maximum duration of stay is 180 days
