According to the ACLU, "Censorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are “offensive,” happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorship can be carried out by the government as well as private pressure groups.
The American Library Association has put together a series of smart graphics that outlines censorship by the numbers to help raise awareness. Get informed and help educate others!

An organization known as Pen America is boots on the ground in the fight against banning/censoring/and challenging books. Their activities are on the frontlines and very informative. They also have a form where you can report a banned book. Browse their "Free the Books" page and absorb the wealth of knowledge they provide!
EveryLibrary.org is an organization that advocates for libraries be they public, school or college. They are "a non-partisan, pro-library organization with an alignment toward sustaining libraries as they evolve and grow in the 21st century." Their mission is to support libraries and librarians in crisis. Their website, is very dynamic with up-to-date tracking of legislation throughout the United States that would ban, challenge or censor books.
