Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools.  As a Social Action activity, our mission is to educate ourselves and our community underlying the banning and options for counteracting this threat to our literary freedoms.  Such as attending School Board Meetings, running for School Boards, reporting censorship etc. 

The organizations behind the rise of censorship and banning books are a "well-oiled" machine and  very well organized. We must become less reactionary and just as organized to meet this threat.
