WHY A MASTER PLANNING PROJECT?
In order to best prepare for the future of New Philadelphia City Schools facility needs, the district is embarking on a master plan project to better understand the long-term facility needs for the district. These efforts ensure that students have access to the best possible educational environment and that the district makes the best possible use of community funds.
Currently, the district operates 7 buildings:
New Philadelphia High School and Welty Middle School (6th-12th Grade)
Central Elementary School (5th Grade)
East Elementary School (PreK-1st Grade)
South Elementary School (2nd-3rd Grade)
West Elementary School (Prek, 4th Grade)
York Elementary School (1st Grade)
Front Street Elementary (District Administration)
While these buildings continue to serve the district, as they age they will require more costly repairs. Some of the mechanical systems are reaching the "end of their lifecycle" and will require replacement. The district is working with an architect to understand building configurations, schedules and timelines, cost and budget issues and how facilities can impact the district for the next 70 years.
