Corporate Sponsorship

The Northeast Combinatorics Network (NCN) nurtures talent, fosters collaboration, and helps catalyze research in discrete mathematics and nearby areas, including applications to biology, computer science and physics. (Our term "discrete mathematics", as used here, includes graph theory, combinatorics, coding theory, cryptography, theoretical computer science and other topics.) This loosely affiliated group of faculty and students meets several times per year in small-scale regional conferences, maintains an exciting YouTube channel, and provides an ongoing platform for research interaction among mathematicians in New England, New York, and surrounding areas.

Faculty associated with the NCN carry out cutting edge research that is both pure and applied, sometimes making discoveries that have significant impact on technology-centered businesses. Students at both the graduate and undergraduate level often go on to the tech, biotech, and engineering industries to embark on successful careers where they bring in new ideas that grow out of exactly this type of learning and research.

The NCN is a strong advocate for diversity in discrete mathematics, promoting the excellent work of women, minorities, and members of other under-represented groups. Any time that some demographic group is under-represented in mathematics, that means some valuable resource is going under-utilized. Talent knows no demographic boundaries; nor should opportunity. Our nation needs all the talented people it can find, all the students it can train, and all the innovative workers that each American community can offer.

As a corporate sponsor, you will be promoting this diversity, this mechanism for drawing out talent from American women, men, those of non-binary gender, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and members of each and every ethnic group around us. You will also be promoting new advances in mathematics, discoveries that will help trigger the technologies of tomorrow and occasionally signal paradigm shifts in industries of national economic and security importance. The benefits of corporate sponsorship include:

  • more direct access to the top undergraduate and graduate students in US northeast universities, helping you recruit the best workers for your needs

  • a finger on the pulse of the latest advances in discrete mathematics and applications such as network optimization and bioinformatics

  • a recruiting tool to enhance diversity in your workforce

  • strong visibility in the academic community as a leader in innovation and supporter of fundamental research

  • corporate logo and recognition of your support featured prominently on event materials

If you are interested in supporting the network or helping to sponsor an event such as "Discrete Math Day", please drop us an email at northeastcombinatoricsnetwork@gmail.com We'd also love to hear your ideas about initiatives that can foster STEM education, boost outreach, and bolster diversity.
