We'd love to have you join in the fun as a North Country Flying Tigers member. There are so many cool aircraft that you can enjoy, you may have a bit of trouble settling on just one type! Our members fly from a variety of model warbirds, civilian aircraft, sport aircraft, helicopters, and even drones (for taking aerial photos).
We have a strong commitment to safety; as such, all new and returning club members must meet all current requirements for membership:
AMA Membership: As an AMA-chartered club, our members must be current AMA members. Depending on the type of aircraft you fly, you can choose between full membership, or Park Pilot membership.
FAA UAS Registration: FAA registration is a requirement for all UAS that weigh 250 grams and above (250 grams = .55 lbs). The FAA requires that all registered aircraft must have a registration number visible on the outside of the aircraft. Note if you only fly UMX aircraft that are less than 250 grams, including battery, such aircraft are exempt from FAA registration. FAA registration is just $5 for a 3-year period, and is renewable.
FAA TRUST Exam: The FAA requires that all UAS recreational pilots must take and pass the FAA TRUST exam. The “exam” is actually a guide through applicable laws and safety requirements pertaining to flying RC aircraft, and is designed as a guaranteed ‘pass’ type exercise. When you complete the test, be sure to create a PDF copy of your certificate of completion. There is no cost to take the TRUST exam.
Simply download and fill in our membership application (be sure to include AMA number, FAA UAS registration number, and TRUST test completion number). Mail along with the appropriate fee to our club Treasurer, Mark Holbrook. His address is right on the form. We thank you in advance for supporting model aviation, and the North Country Flying Tigers. Welcome aboard!
