HONARARY MEMBER
A Bronx native, Kevin Lynch and his family moved to the North Rockland area when he was at a young age. He attended St. Gregory Barbarigo Elementary School, and then went to North Rockland High School and proudly graduated in 1976. He then attended SUNY at Old Westbury where he graduated with a Degree in Business Administration. During his high school years,
Kevin worked at the locally famous Boulderberg Manor in Tomkins Cove. It was there where he discovered his love for restaurants and found that it ran in the family.
The Lynch family has a long and storied history in the restaurant business and serving the community. Kevin’s Grandfather opened The Riverside Grill on 125th Street and Broadway right after prohibition. The establishment was there until 1968. He was always impressed by the way his Grandfather helped so many people in his community. Years after his Grandfather’s passing, it was revealed that “Pop” Lynch had helped many immigrants come to America through sponsorships and providing work at his tavern. So, in 1962, Kevin’s parents opened the Kopper Kettle on Route 303. At just four-years-old, Kevin began working by cleaning up in the morning. The pay was any money that could be found on the floor. Again, it was years later that Kevin realized his mother would leave quarters on the floor to keep him working.
By age 14, Kevin truly found one of his callings and started working at the Boulderberg Manor. After college, Kevin and his father opened the first Lynch’s Restaurant in Tomkins Cove. A highlight of the restaurant was the pre-Thanksgiving dinners they provided to local senior citizens. After 10 years, Kevin moved on from the restaurant and became an insurance and tax consultant, as well as a real estate manager. His Dad managed to work in both capacities, and Kevin happily followed in his Dad’s footsteps.
In 1998, Kevin married Denise Casey, a third grade teacher at Thiells Elementary School. Soon after came their triplets, Tara, Kevin and Caitlyn, who joined Kelly and Jennifer in completing the Lynch family. When asked recently what was his greatest accomplishment, Kevin said that God saw fit to make him a father and there is nothing in life that compares to that.
Kevin always had a burning passion to do more. When the triplets were old enough, he decided to get back into the restaurant business. He and his wife opened the second Lynch’s in Stony Point in 2012. In an attempt to help revitalize things, Kevin developed Lynch’s Serves, a program that provides a free meal to those down on their luck. Lynch’s also gives free meals to all active duty military, and to all military veterans on Veteran’s Day. The restaurant also provides dinners to many local and regional groups. Over the years, they have provided food and gift certificates for countless fundraisers and events. Lynch’s motto is “We don’t just serve food. We serve the community.”
Kevin is an avid FB writer who enjoys communicating the good in life and hopes to help others in all endeavors. Kevin and Denise also own the Come Sit Stay Dog Hotel in Haverstraw. The Lynch’s charitable side is evident at the dog hotel as well, where they foster dogs in need.
