TRACK & FIELD
Not too many scholastic athletes can say they were selected to a varsity squad as an eighth grader. Britney Clarke holds that rare distinction, and in 2003 began a decorated career on both the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams at North Rockland. During her five-year stint on the on the Spring Outdoor team, Clarke competed in multiple events. However, she emerged as a star in both the Pentathlon and Heptathlon. She mirrored many of her Outdoor awards and records as a four-year member of the Indoor team.
Clarke worked her way into the role of team captain on both teams. She earned multiple accolades and was selected to several All-League, All-County, and All-Section teams. As a senior, she won the Outdoor New York State Pentathlon championship. She won the event by over 200 points. Earlier, Britney had competed in the Indoor State meet and finished fourth in the High Jump.
In all, Clarke set Rockland County records in the Indoor Pentathlon, as well as the Outdoor Pentathlon and Heptathlon. Named the team’s Most Valuable Player, she was the 2008 Rockland County Co-Track & Field Athlete-of-the-Year.
A member of the National Honor Society, Britney accepted a scholarship and competed at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She was named to the All-ACC Indoor team in 2011 and 2012, and earned a spot on the 2009 All-ACC Outdoor team.
