The North Rockland Sports Hall of Fame was founded for a dual purpose. First, to honor past athletes from the school, and secondly to raise money for North Rockland Students, Athletes and the Athletic program. Since its inception 30 years ago, over 100 past student athletes, coaches, managers, school members, and community volunteers have been inducted.
The North Rockland School system has produced quality athletes since the early 1900´s. They were highlighted in the local newspapers and high school yearbooks, and then went on with their lives. The NR sports Hall of Fame was established to recognize many individuals who have contributed to the athletic program. Each year between 3-5 new inductees are inducted. A plaque for each previous inductee is on display in the North Rockland ¨Hall of Excellence¨ located in the Annex part of North Rockland HS, for all staff, students, alumni, and visitors to view.
Events during the year include, the North Rockland Sports HOF annual golf outing each summer at Rotella Golf Course, selling raffles at most Football home games, and the annual Induction Dinner each winter, which is the largest event. Any profits derived from events goes to the students, not just the athletes in the school district. Everyone on the committee is a volunteer who gives their time back to the athletic community. No one is paid to be on the committee.
The NR Sports HOF is always seeking new members to join the committee. Anyone interested in joining should contact a commitee member for more info. Meetings are held monthly in the North Rockland HS Athletic office located in the Annex part of North Rockland HS
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Members, and Inductees, thank you for your support of NR athletics.
