We are working in partnership with Best Practice Network/Outstanding Leaders Partnership to deliver the reformed National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) for the Alban Teaching School Hub area.

From September 2021, the reformed NPQs will offer teachers and leaders clearer development opportunities and career progression. These qualifications will build on key areas of the Early Career Framework (ECF), allowing for further specialisation and development of expertise and help prepare teachers and leaders the next step in their careers.

The reformed qualifications aim to:

  • help teachers hone and develop the skills they already have, helping them to become more effective leaders inside and outside the classroom and improving overall teaching quality

  • retain high-calibre teachers by offering clearer development opportunities and career progression

Aspiring headteachers at your school can still self-fund the qualification or complete as part of a funded Headteacher Apprenticeship.

There is no funding available for either the NPQLT or NPQLBC. Colleagues wishing to complete these qualifications will need to self-fund.

Applying for an NPQ programme

Stage One – register with Outstanding Leaders – Best Practice

https://www.outstandingleaders.org/our-programmes and choose Alban TSH as your nearest NPQ provider.

Stage Two - NPQ Online Service Guidance

The NPQ Online Service is designed to allow teachers and leaders to register for their own NPQs. It is the second step in a participant's NPQ journey - the first step is to select their preferred programme and provider, for which educators are being directed to Teaching School Hubs.

You can find a walk-through of the NPQ online service, containing screenshots of key parts of the process, here. It is important to note that the service differs from the equivalent ECF service in that it is designed for use by participants and not by their schools.

The date for completion of applications is September 11th2021.
