We wanted to share information about a new Navigating School Refusal virtual parent education and skills group that will be offered this summer.
This is a six session structured group providing psychoeducation and evidence based strategies for parents and caregivers of children and teens with chronic school refusal or anxiety related school absenteeism. The group includes guided between session practice and focuses on common maintaining factors such as anxiety driven avoidance, somatic complaints, and parent responses that may unintentionally reinforce school refusal.
The group will be led by Emily Berkowitz, Psy.D.
Group details:
• Six weekly sessions
• Wednesdays, 5:30–7:00 PM
• Begins June 17, 2026
• Virtual via Google Meet
• $70 per session for six sessions
This group is intended for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents who demonstrate persistent school refusal or frequent anxiety related absences.
