History

National Institute for Development of Teachers, Faculty Staff, and Educational Personnel or NIDTEP was established on May 14, 1979, as the leading organization for teachers and educational personnel development which is under the supervision of the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Thailand. As an initial establishment, NIDTEP functioned its duties under the commitment of the World Bank and coexisted the implementation of Planning Policy and School Board Development Plan of the Ministry of Education including Pre – Promotional Training, In – Serviced Training, Specialized Training. Furthermore, the institute has organized seminars or meetings for educational development to meet the needs of serviced organizations in national and international region.

In 1999, there was an educational reform according to Educational Development Plan 8th Phase (1997-2001) committed by National Education Act B.E. 2542 (1999) declaring that Ministry of Education is obliged to promote a system formation and development of teachers, faculty staff and educational personnel to be a highly sufficient working unit and appropriate standard as a high profession. Additionally, the Ministry of Education is assigned to purview and coordinates to the institute undertaking enhancement of teachers, faculty staff and educational personnel to approach the maturity and strength of upcoming staff preparation and in-service staff development. As mentioned above, the Institute for Development of School Board had to reform its roles and mission from the institute responsible for coordinating of Policy and Plan, development of teachers, faculty staff and educational personnel and others functions ensued by the decree and became the Institute for Development of Teachers, Faculty Staff, and Educational Personnel or NIDTEP.
