Shark HD4 (CNC Wood Cutting/ Engraving Machine)

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery. The process can be used to control a range of complex machinery, from grinders and lathes to mills and CNC routers. With CNC machining, three-dimensional cutting tasks can be accomplished in a single set of prompts.

The Final Product:
The items in the left picture are the final products of the what the machine made, the left topmost item is what the machine has cut. Removing the small thin tabs in the wood gives you the two box pieces, combining them gives you a small hexagonal box (as seen in the bottom left).

Here is a video of the box I designed in the VCarve software, I made a rectangular box. The model being shown is the one that the Shark HD4 will cut out.
Product Box Model.mp4IMG_1202.MOVThe video being shown on the left is a time lapse of the Shark HD4 cutting out the box. The vacuum towards the end is used to get the sawdust off of the wood, as too much would get in the way of the drill.
The Final Product:
This is the final product after a brief sanding down and removal of the tabs. The two wood pieces combine to make a small wooden box.
