The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.
This artifact is all about how I can change up my lessons to get every student involved and mentally checked in during my teaching.
This artifact relates to the standard due to its promotion of critical thinking, proglem-solving, and promotion of conitnuous growth and learning. For diffferentiation to be put into place, I have to have a deep knowledge of my classroom, and this artifact shows that I understand what it takes to have a succesful enviornment.
Overall, this was a great assignment for me to complete over the course of my college experience. It brought my thinking off of just a "straight line" and forced me to think how I could be better and change me lesson plans so that every student is engaged and learning.
Description of What I Did- I have created this portfolio to show the work that I have created over the course of this class. A major aspect to this portfolio is to provide future employers with a sample of the work I have been doing so that they can view everything I have and get a better understanding of my work ethic, and my understanding of various forms of technology used within a classroom setting. Of course, The material of this Portfolio is subject to change as I continue on in my education, and eventually my career. The purpose of this Portfolio may shift, but as for now it is the place that all of my work can be found.
Standard Connection- My Portfolio shows close plenty of problem solving, creative and critical thinking skill, as well as growth and learning. While looking through the work provided in this Portfolio, we will see that I am familiar with plenty of different instructional tools that will be used in a classroom quite often. I have been able to problem solve through various issues that arose during the making of those materials, and have come up with a rather well put together finished product. As my work has continued, I have been able to adapt to various situations that would get in the way of my learning, but have been successful in my attempts to further my knowledge and produce a working finished product. Ideally, I would like this page to be a place where future employers can come and see my work, and how I demonstrate "A variety of strategies that support critical thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning" through the variety of samples I have posted onto my "technology" page. Also through the work I have posted on here, anyone can see that "The competent teacher differentiates instruction" just by the various sites we have used so far, and with the material that I have offered as a sample to those who view the page. Ideally, as of now, I would like this site to be a place where anyone can see my work and understand my work ethic and ability to adapt to the environment around me, but I do understand that this page will adapt over time to something I will use for future classes.
What I Have Learned- The creation of this Portfolio has taught me a lot about the importance of putting what you have created out there for people to see. The site has taught me that through the creation of my work, others will be able to view that and understand who I am as a person with more accuracy than before. Having a place to link all of my creations is extremely helpful because it is all in one place, and future employers will be able to take one look and be able to understand my work ethic and creativity, allowing future job offers to hopefully be presented. As to my future classroom, this is an easy place to assign the work that will be embedded within my classroom, along with students having an easy time finding those assignments. Beyond that, this will provide to my school the work that we have been doing, allowing them to keep up with the class as well as understanding what it is we are doing at any given point in the year all by checking this Portfolio. This Portfolio has served as both a great learning and teaching tool for me to this point, I look forward to the changes I will be making through the years and how it will evolve once I have my own classroom.
