Scramble is a match in which two play against two. Each player tees off on every hole. Each side then selects whichever ball location, of the two drives, from which they will hit their next shot. At least four tee shots must be used by each player. The ball is marked and both players hit from the same location within 12” of the original marked position no closer to the hole and not on the putting surface. If the ball is in a penalty area or a bunker, it must remain in the penalty area or bunker: Note: the 12” allowance cannot be used to move to a different area of the course.
A match in which two play against two and each side plays one ball. Players hit alternate shots. Players take turns driving on alternate holes. Players should declare at the beginning of the match who is driving on the ODD numbered holes, and who is driving in EVEN holes. (Amended 2019)
Each club enters two pairs who partner and play against two opponents. Everyone plays their own ball. A side’s score for a hole is the lower score of the two partners on that hole.
TIE BREAKERS: Ties within the division, immediately after the third match, will be broken by a draw made before the teams involved leave the course after the third match.
A competition on a hole by hole basis between two players. Each player is matched with an opponent from the other club.
Final match pairings will be seeded based on the total number of points each team has accumulated after the third match. In the event of a tie, please refer to the Tie Breakers section.
Match-ups will be as follows:
The team with the most points will play the team with the fewest points
The remaining two teams will play each other (i.e., 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3).
Player pairings within each match will be based on handicaps. The lowest handicap player on one team will play against the lowest handicap player on the opposing team, the second lowest against the second lowest, and so on — keeping handicaps aligned as closely as possible.
TIE BREAKERS: Ties after the last match, either within the Division or in the Playoffs, are to be decided with a 3-HOLE PLAY OFF followed by sudden death in which each team of four will continue to play hole-by-hole until a winning team is decided.
The winners of each Division will play home-and-home matches. The Divisional winner with the highest number of points will have their choice of home advantage for the 1st or 2nd match. Consideration of course availability will also play a factor in determining where the matches will be played. The Chair must be notified of the Divisional results a.s.a.p.
i.e. 2-TEAMS, 2 GAMES, HOME & HOME
If the Divisional winners are tied, choice of home course will be by ‘flip of a coin’. Final Matches should be completed as soon as possible, after the winners are known within the Divisions.
