Fire Safety in Building

Course Details

Fire is now a great concern for buildings, particularly in high rise and in buildings at densely developed areas. Construction of buildings in engineered way can not only ensure safety of its occupants where safety against fire hazard is also equally important. Some major incidences of fire in buildings of various occupancies revealed the fact that most of those buildings were lacking of the provisions required for fire safety. Further revealing was that some buildings though had fire fighting and alarming systems, but these were found to be inactive or inoperative during the need due to non compliances of some compulsory and regulatory practices. So it is very important to know the total technology and prevailing rules and regulations made for making a building safe out of fire.

Bangladesh National Building Code has described various guidelines in this regard. But though in many respect it needs updating but it will take some time to bring to day light. By this time Engineering Staff College, Bangladesh feels the necessity of disseminating the knowledge of fire safety provisions for building to its valued members and other professionals, academics and whoever having interest for.
