"If a man's work be his reflection, then let mine stand true, level and just."
-Greg Nelms
Mr. Nelms is a native Texan, who, along with his wife and three sons, makes New Jersey his home. He is a veteran Home Inspector with thirty five years and over sixteen thousand inspected structures under his belt.
Mr. Nelms is a graduate of American Inspector's Institute, and is well versed in all structural and mechanical aspects of construction. He holds State licenses as a Home Inspector, Radon Measurement Technician and Commercial Pesticide Applicator. He is also a Certified Chimney Sweep/Inspector and has inspected well over twenty thousand chimneys to date.
The hats Mr. Nelms has worn ranging from Construction Supervisor to City Building Inspector, give him a wealth of knowledge rarely equaled. He is highly respected by his peers and enjoys a professional affliction with the New Jersey Association of Licensed Professional Home Inspectors {NJ-ALPHI}, of which he is a founding member. His reputation precedes him and he is often called upon as an expert witness when construction or inspection aspects are questioned in a court of law.
Mr. Nelms is a man who truly lives and loves his work. The lines that define his personal and professional interests are blurred. He often lends his voice to a myriad of public speaking engagements, where he is the guest speaker on any number of topics in his varied field. He enjoys the satisfaction of informing people and sharing a working knowledge with them. This love of imparting knowledge was a natural segue into his becoming an instructor for the state required curriculum for Home Inspector Licensing at an accredited academic institution.
Currently, Mr. Nelms has expanded his teaching to New Jersey's youth and has become a vocational instructor for Civic Justice Corps (CJC) project of The Jewish Renaissance Foundation (JRF). Here he teaches the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum. It is rewarding for him to work with "at risk youths", allowing them to help themselves by obtaining employable skills. Mr. Nelms feels these skills build self esteem and confidence propelling the students to be their best, most productive selves, and members of society.
If you ask Mr. Nelms, he will tell you his greatest accomplishment by far is the on-going work of his 40 year marriage, and the task of raising his children, the future leaders in America.
