CAST
Amelia is going into her junior year at Needham High School and she is 16 years old! She has been doing theatre since 7th grade and has participated in all of the Needham High School shows! She has been dancing since she was 2 years old and it is something she is very passionate about! She would like to thank her family for always supporting her as well as her friends for being there when she needs them!
Max is SO so excited to be playing Jimmy in Bright Star! Previous roles have included Bill Austin (Mamma Mia!), Professor Callahan (Legally Blonde), and Ram Sweeney (Heathers). He graduated Needham High School in 2025 and is attending Dartmouth College in the fall. He also served as co-music director for this production. He is so grateful to the entire production for all of their hard work!
James is so excited for his third summer performance with Needham Student Theatre. You may recognize him as Franklin Shepard, from his most recent performance in Merrily We Roll Along, or as Harry Bright from NHS’s winter production of Mamma Mia. Outside of theater, James is almost always playing his guitar. He also enjoys performing with his acapella group, The Subway Dwarves. James has a passion for visual art and design as well, and created the logos posters and branding for this production of Bright Star himself. He would like to thank his voice teacher Carolyn MacGregor for all of her help in preparing for this extremely fun role.
Jack Dufort is a recent graduate of Needham High School and will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall. His passion for acting emerged during his senior year in high school, starring as Agent 44 in Get Smart. He continues to broaden his skillset by participating in Bright Star, his first musical. Jack believes that it’s never too late to follow your passion, and that sometimes, the best chapters begin just before the page turns. He’s especially thankful for the support of his family along the way.
Sophie Schlosman is a rising junior at GANN Academy in Waltham. She has been doing theater for many years. Some recent roles include Olive in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Feste in Twelfth Night, and Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress. Aside from doing theatre, Sophie does Acapella, improv, and more! She would like to thank her friends and family for being so supportive of her!
Julia is so excited to perform in her third NST production! She previously appeared as Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and as Heather Duke in Heathers. She is a graduate of Needham High School and is entering her sophomore year at American University. She would like to thank the students entire cast and crew of Bright Star for helping create this amazing performance and she hopes you enjoy the show!
Lily is so excited to be in her first-ever NST production! She just graduated from Needham High School, where she spent four years doing theater and co-directed the spring musical, Merrily We Roll Along. Bright Star was a perfect end to her Needham theater experience before she heads to Northwestern University in the fall. She hopes you love the show!
Hazel is so excited for her 4th year with NST and 4th time playing the role of a mother! She has been performing since early middle school and this will be her 27th production. Previous roles with NST include Heather McNamera (Heathers) and Katherine (Freaky Friday). She will be attending Mount Holyoke college in the fall. She would like to extend a huge thank you to her wonderful director and friend Amiya Tess for all of her hard work. Enjoy the show!
Rachel is going into her senior year at Needham High School and this is her second NST production! She has been a part of the Needham High theater community since freshman year, both onstage and off acting as the Assistant Director for many productions. You may have seen her last summer in NST's Heathers as the Stoner Chick. Rachel wants to thank her family and castmates for their support throughout this process and Nadia for writing her bio (because she submitted too late).
Maddie is going into her senior year at Gann Academy and this is her second NST production! You may have seen her last summer in NST's Heathers as Martha Dunnstock. She is also on the NST staff board as the Assistant Choreographer and Social Chair. Maddie wants to thank her family and cast mates for their support throughout this process and her crazy awesome and humble music director/choreographer Nadia for writing her bio because she forgot.
Aaron is a rising sophomore at Ithaca College where he is studying Environmental Science. His previous NST credits include Big Bud Dean/Principal Gowan (Heathers) and Vice Principal Douglas Panch (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). Aaron would like to thank the cast and crew for putting on a great show. He hopes you enjoy!
Julian is a rising sophomore at NHS and is very excited to be participating in his first summer show with NST! In the past he has also participated in many musicals in and outside of Needham High Theater. He would like to thank the cast, crew, and pit for making the show come to life. Enjoy! 😝
Fiona is a rising senior at Needham High School and this is her third year performing with NST and her second year working on the staff. This year is also her first on the creative team as costume designer. Her previous onstage roles include Logainne "Shwartzy" (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Little Sally (Urinetown), and Ms. Fleming (Heathers). Kathleen is going into her sophomore year at Needham High School and this is her third NST production! Sam is a rising sophomore at Needham High School, and will be playing the roles of Max and Woman 3. Sam was recently in the high schools productions of Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia, Get Smart, and A Christmas Carol (an NST production). She can’t wait to be in her second NST show, Bright Star!
Lily is so excited to return to the stage for Needham Student Theater's Bright Star! She has done theater since elementary school and was a stage manager in her junior and senior years of high school. This show has been the perfect summer theater experience before she starts at Hamilton College in the fall. She would like to thank her family and the stage managers for their support through her theater journey. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Rina is thrilled to be part of Bright Star! She has previously performed in 67 Cinderellas and The Lion King, and is currently studying Early Childhood Education at Minuteman High School. With a passion for working with children, Rina hopes to continue her studies in college with a major in education and a minor in theater to deepen her theatrical knowledge. She would like to thank her family for their constant support of her theater journey and all the encouragement along the way.
Kaycee is super excited to be participating in her second summer with NST! You may have seen her onstage last summer in NST's production of Heathers as the Preppy Stud. Amiya would like to thank you all for coming to see this production of Bright Star! She is going into her sophomore year at Northwestern University, double majoring in Learning and Organizational Change and Political Science. She has been with NST/SJST for six years, currently serving as a Co-President, and has loved watching our NST family grow, since starting it alongside Aria Lehri. For almost a decade, she has braved the stage, worked behind the sound board, and sat in the directors chair, including in productions like The Little Mermaid, Les Miserables, The Lightning Theif and many more. She has worked tremendously hard on this production and would like to give a major thanks to her Co-Producer, and good friend, Haley Larson for walking alongside her through all of the craziness. She is tremendously proud of the work the cast has put into this production, and wants to thank them all for their devotion to this show. She also wants to thank her parents for their support. Her sister, Nadia, the author of this fantastic bio, is also insanely proud of Amiya and applauds her on her effortless display of leadership over the last six weeks. Enjoy the show!!
Haley will be going into her senior year at Needham High school in the fall. This is Haley's third summer with NST and her second summer on the NST board! Outside of NST, she enjoys doing sound for NHS productions and loves spending time with her friends and family. She has enjoyed working alongside her Co-Producer and Co-President, Amiya this summer. Nadia is so excited for this production of Bright Star! Since first seeing the show when she was eight, this has been one of her favorite shows. In the fall, she will be entering her senior year at Needham High. This will be her third summer with NST, after working on the production team for both 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee and Heathers. She has been performing onstage for ten years, with her recent roles including Martha Bessel (Spring Awakening, WTP), Mary Flynn (Merrily We Roll Along, NHS), and Elle Woods (Legally Blonde, NHS SAMD). She would like to thank her older sister, Amiya, for leading her through this process with patience and devotion. She hopes you enjoy the show!
This is Miranda's fourth year with NST and second year as a member of the board! She will be going into her sophomore year at University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She is thrilled to be back as an assistant stage manager and hopes everyone has as much fun watching as she has had these past few weeks!
Isabel just finished her freshman year at Oberlin College, and is planning to study politics and music. Previously, she has conducted The Lightning Thief at NHS and Heathers with NST. After playing viola in NHS pit orchestras throughout high school, she is so excited and grateful for the opportunity to take up the baton! Enjoy the show!
Jenny, a rising senior at Needham High School, is overjoyed to return to Needham Student Theatre this summer for Bright Star. Between summers with NST, she spends her time as a stage manager for her high school theater program and eating frozen yogurt. She would like to thank stage manager Miranda Collins-Kullberg, producer and sound board operator Haley Larson, and everyone else who makes this show possible.
Ananya just graduated from Needham High School and is headed to Georgetown University in the fall, majoring in Public Policy. She has previously acted in Radium Girls, Shakespeare in Love, and Get Smart at Needham High, and she directed NST's winter 24-hour show, A Christmas Carol.
Sofia is a theater kid through and through, with a big love for the spotlight and an even bigger love for storytelling. She’s performed in The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and James and the Giant Peach. Her favorite role so far has been playing Aunt Sponge in James and the Giant Peach—because who doesn’t love being loud, silly, and just a little gross? Sofia brings energy, humor, and heart to every role she takes on. She loves working with castmates who feel like family and learning something new with every show. She enjoys working closely with the cast and crew to create something amazing together.
Caitlyn is very excited to present to you Bright Star! She has been apart of run crew for Heathers and A Christmas Carol for NST, as well as Addams Family, Beauty and the Beast, Les Mis, Shakespeare in Love, Legally Blonde, and Mamma Mia for Needham High School. In her free time, she plays softball and hangs out with her friends. Caitlyn hopes you enjoy the show!
Ava is so excited to be working on Bright Star with NST! She just recently graduated from Needham High School and will be attending University of Pittsburgh in the fall with a major in Psychology. Over the last few years she has worked on the lights team for multiple NHS theater shows. She wants to thank the production team for the their hard work over the last week, and Nadia for writing her bio.
Robin is a rising senior at Gann Academy. She has made and designed props for the Gann Academy shows of 9 to 5, Twelfth Night, Anything Goes, A Dybbuk, and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and enjoys painting and playing clarinet in her free time. This is Robin's first show with NST.
Mari is so excited to be working on Bright Star with NST! She will be going into her sophomore year at American University in the fall, majoring in International Studies. She wants to thank the production team for the their hard work over the last week, and Nadia for writing her bio.
Danny will be going into his junior year at Needham High School in the fall. He has enjoyed working on tech during the school year, mainly working sound alongside Haley Larson. He wants to thank Haley and his family for their support, and Nadia for writing his bio.
Pit
Jared is a rising sophomore at Oberlin College studying jazz guitar in the Conservatory. Although he has played in a variety of bands and jazz ensembles, this will be his first time playing in a pit orchestra. He is very excited for this new opportunity, and hopes you enjoy the show!
Paul Kinnear graduated as a guitar performance major from Berklee college of music in 1990. In 1992, in conjunction with Patricia Drain, he opened Middle Street School of Music and BumbleBee Music in Plymouth Ma. Paul continues to perform regularly and teach at and run both the school and store.
Will Murray is a recent graduate of Needham High School who has been playing the cello for 10 years, most recently in NHS’s Chamber Orchestra and various chamber groups outside of school. This is Will’s first time playing in the pit orchestra for NST and he is excited for this summer’s performance of Bright Star!
Robert Draper is an educator and musician specializing in guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano. He is delighted to be making music with such a talented team. Recent theater credits include Fun Home with Weston Drama Workshop, The Spitfire Grill at The Umbrella Arts Center, and February House with The Treehouse Collective. When he’s not performing or teaching, Robert enjoys rock climbing, biking, and exploring the outdoors.
