Peer Resources

In this section we share some resources on talking to peers about autism spectrum disorders. There a variety of power point presentations, handouts, and lesson resources for talking to students about autism and how it impacts their classmate(s). Prior to talking to classmates about autism, the IEP team members (including parents) should discuss the pros and con for the indvidiual student. Parent permission should be requested prior to a peer talk about autism.

Sometimes the student with autism needs ideas for how to start a conversation with friends. To view a virtual strategy on conversation starters click here: https://www.unl.edu/asdnetwork/virtual-strategies/conversation-starters
