Kleve City
The bombing raids on 7 October 1944 and 7 February 1945 destroyed the historic city centre and the Schwanenturm. More than 500 civilians died in the hail of bombs.
One day later, Operation Veritable was launched and the British and Canadian forces advanced to Kleve, capturing the town on 11 February 1945.
