This map from the Maine Geological Survey shows the area that we explored by walking along the Belfast Rail Trail in Belfast. We met at the outer High Street parking lot and walked north to observe the railway cut that revealed the Bucksport Formation. Then we walked south toward Belfast to view the Appleton Formation outcrop.
