Harrington Lagoon - Kackacágʷǝc

The Lower Skagit village of Kackacágʷǝc was located just beyond the eastern edge of the Reserve. The village is described as a temporary hunting and camping site for deer [hunters]. Some consultants suggested that the site was occupied in the summer by an outside group called BisíGwigwilc who jointly occupied the site with the Skagit and sometimes intermarried with them.

Resources found at Kackacágʷǝc included Flounder, shellfish, cockles, geese, duck, and deer. Plant gathering also important for getting blackberries, wild currants, camas, flax, and strawberries.

At the village of Kackacágʷǝc intermarriage was common and it was believed that the people in this village was viewed as lower status, comparable to the skʷdabš. Kackacágʷǝc was described as a temporary hunting and camping site with small buildings or houses to stay in.
