Raja RUP SINGH (Roop Singh), 5th Raja of Kishangarh 1644/1658, born in Babera Fort, Kishangarh, founder of Roopnagar which he wrested from Sisodias in BS 1705, built Roopangarh Fort in 1649 A.D. He allied with Prince Dara Shikoh against Aurangzeb in the Mughal war of succession and died in BS 1715 (1659 AD) in the battle of Dharmat (Dholpur) near Ujjain and his three queens, Ratnade, Rangrude and Atirupade committed Sati.

Kishan Singh had four sons namely, Sahasmal, Jagmal, Bharmal and Hari Singh. Sahasmal (1615-18 AD) was enthroned after Kishan Singh at the age of 17 years on Asoj Sudi-3, BS 1672. He went towards Jafarabad of South India to the service of Jahangir in 1628 AD and died issueless, and his junior Queen Sisodini rushed on hearing about his illness but could not find him alive and enflamed herself and became Sati, while his principal Queen, Hadi, committed Sati at Kishangarh only. Second son Raja Jagmal received mansab of 1500/800 and went to Jafarabad with his brother Bharmal of 1000/500 mansab. Jagmal also died issueless. Hari Singh was granted mansab of 1000/800 in 1630 AD, lower than his brothers.
Babera: At this place, which was known as Vavera till BS 1700, he saw a she goat bravely defending her kids against five or six tigers that had surrounded her. The sight filled his mind with wonder and he erected a fort there.
