PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Founded in the 17th century, Sikar is the largest Thikana in area in Jaipur state. The Rao Rajas of Sikar share a common ancestry with the Thakurs of Rewasa, Mundru, Kachriawas, Bai, Kasli, Udiapur, Dujod, Danta, Khatu, Khood, Gangiyasar, Dundlod and Khetri, all being descended from Darbari Raja Raisal of Khandela. The clan Raoji gets its name from Rao Tirmal of Kasli, 4th son of Raja Raisal. Sikar is encircled all around by the high Parkota (walls) comprising of seven Pols (gates). Rao DAULAT SINGH, 1st Rao of Sikar 1687/1721, 2nd son of Rao Jaswant Singh of Kasli, he laid the foundation of Sikar in 1687, alongwith Rao Fateh Singh of Dujod and Rao Deep Singh of Kasli, he ousted the Royal family of Hari Ramji Ka Shekhawats and took posession of Jagmalpura alongwith Chainpura and Dadi. He also took possession of seven villages of Thakur Bhopat Singh of Siwote, brother of Raja Bahadur Singh of Khandela. With the blessings of Sheopuriji, a son was born to Daulat Singh and in reverence was named as Sheo Singh and a Shiv Temple was built on the hill of Harsha, married twice and had issue, three sons. He died 1721.

Colonel Thakur Hanuman Singh Shekhawat, Thakur Saheb of Sarwari, Colonel in Jaipur State forces and Major in Indian Army, M.B.E. (Member of British Empire), Commanded Kachchawa Horses Regiment, fought the Burma War along the British Army, Soldier Board President, bestowed Double Gold Tazim by Jaipur Darbar, first in line of succession to Sikar throne, married and had issue, six sons and two daughters.
Thakurani (Maji saheb) Saroj Kumari, she died 2019, married to Thakur Sahib Sher Singhji of Padihara. She is blessed with 4 children, Brijendra Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Pappu Baisa & Anju Baisa. All are married and happily settled. Shri Brijendra Singhji is running a transport business in Jaipur & into vehicle hiring to various Blue Chip corporates. Shri Th Sb. Sher Singhji, is retired Deputy Agriculture Director in Rajasthan Government. His repotoire include thorough knowledge of Rajputana culture & traditions. He is widely respected for his simplicity and wisdom.
Brig. Thakur Umaid Singh, (eldest son) Thakur of Sarwari, he was commissioned in the Indian Army into the 19th Rajputana Rifles Regiment. He commanded 13 Raj Rif at Bikaner and later 71 Mountain Brigade at Shahjahanpur. He was also an Instructor at OTA Chennai from 1985 to 1987. He also had a posting as A.Q.M.G in SFF and undertook parajumps, married February 1968, Thakurani Kiran Kumari (Rajkumari Baiji Lal Sahiba Kiran Kumari of Maroth), daughter of Maharaja Sri Bijay Singhji, Raja of Gaudawati, Panch Mahal Maroth (Abhaypura-Jiliya) Dohri Tazim Sona Naresh, and has issue, one son. He died in a car crash on 27 December 1987.
Thakur Dinesh Singh Shekhawat, present Thakur Saheb of Sarwari, born April 1971, educated in Shillong, Chennai, Jodhpur and Jaipur, presently working at Falna, first in line of succession to the throne of Sikar, married 1994, Thakurani Amita Mertia (Montie), daughter of Thakur Dalpat Singh, RFS, son of Col. Jawahar Singh of Pachranda Thikana and his 2nd wife, and a lady of Kariri village in Sikar, and has issue, two sons.

Rao DEVI SINGH, 6th Rao of Sikar 1763/1795, born 6th May 1753, constructed the fort of Devgarh in 1787, founded the town of Ramgarh in 1791, built Raghunathgarh fort in 1791, married 1stly, Rani Mertaniji, married 2ndly, Rani Kanlotiji, married 3rdly, Rani Chandrawatiji, and had issue, one son. He died 25th December 1795.

Rao Raja LAKSHMAN SINGH, 7th Rao Raja of Sikar 1795/1834, born 21st June 1787, usurped the gaddi at Khandela in 1812 but was convinced to return it soon afterwards, he was granted the title of Rao Raja by Maharaja Jagat Singh of Jaipur, married 7 wives, including, a daughter of Maharaj Jai Singh of Bikaner, and had 8 paswan, including Veera, she became sati, and had issue, as well as further issue. He died 24th January 1834.

Rao Raja RAM PRATAP SINGH, 8th Rao Raja of Sikar 1834/1850, born 1829, constructed the marble palace, noted for its attractive golden paintings, married 1stly, Rani Ranawatiji of Shahpura, married 2ndly, Rani Bhatianiji. He died sp on 17th September 1850.
Rao Raja BHAIRON SINGH, 9th Rao Raja of Sikar 1851/1865, born posthumously in 1834, originally granted the jagir of Seemalala, adopted by the widow of his predecessor, but only confirmed in the succession after a year in 1851, married and had issue as well as adoptive issue. He died 5th April 1865.

Rao Raja Sir MADHO SINGH Bahadur, 10th Rao Raja of Sikar 1866/1922, born 1860, adoptive son of his predecessor and second son of Thakur Birad Singh of Deeppura, he was granted the title of Bahadur in 1886, K.C.I.E [cr.1.1.1922], he constructed the Madhav Niwas Kothi; married four wives, including 4thly, Rani Bhatianiji, and had issue. He died 28th June 1922 at Sikar.
Maharani Raj Kunwar (by Rani Bhatianiji), married 14th May 1924, HH Maharawat Sir Ram Singhji II Bahadur of Pratapgarh, and had issue, one daughter. She died 1929.

Rao Raja KALYAN SINGH Bahadur, 11th Rao Raja of Sikar 1922/1967, nephew of his predecessor, son of Thakur Dalip Singh, elder brother of Rao Raja Mado Singh Bahadur, born 20th June 1886 at village Deeppura; he constructed the clock tower as well as the Kalyan Hospital and College for the welfare of public; married, a daughter of Thakur Madho Singh of Sirana in Ajmer, and had issue. He died 5th November 1967 in Jaipur.

He died spm on 15th June 1954 in Jaipur.
