PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The founder of the clan was Rao Kumpa of Mandore (Marwar), died 5th January 1544, whose fourth son, Rao Mandan Singh, was the original grantee of the estate of Asope. Rao KUMPA, he was in service of Rao Maldeo of Jodhpur and was granted Bikaner, Fatehpur and Jhunjhunu in jagir, ancestor of Kumpawat clan, including the Thakurs of Bagri, Chandelao and Chandawal, as well as the families of Siriyari, Bajoria, Dewureo, Kharla, Nadsar, Basni, Hursore, Ballu, and Surpura, married and had issue. He died 1544 A.D. (V.S. 1600) in the battle of Sumel Giri against emperor Sher Shah Suri.

Rao KHINVKARAN, 2nd Thakur of Asope 1593/1608, received Imperial mansab and the jagir of Idwa for pivotal role in Akbar's victory over Amarchampu in V.S. 1658, married and had issue, six sons. He died 1608 A.D. (V.S. 1665) in battle against Hada Chatrasal of Bundi.

Rao KANH SINGH (KISHAN SINGH alias KISHANDAS), 3rd Thakur of Asope 1608/1611, born 1583, he was in service of Gaj Singh of Marwar and rwas granted estate of Barlu (Badlu), Nadsar, Ratkudiya and Khariya villages in jagir for valour displayed in battles in South India; the thikana was resumed by Maharaja Gaj Singh of Marwar and was granted to a younger brother. He married and had issue.

Rao PIRTHI SINGH [alias Nahar Khan], 5th Thakur of Asope 1640/1658, fondly called Naharkhan by Shah Jahan in recognition of his bravery, he defeated Bhati rulers of Pokaran in V.S. 1707; married and had issue, nine sons. He died 1658 (V.S. 1715).
