The Mullahs’ Intelligence Services Arrest New MEK Iran Supporters

The clerical regime's Intelligence Ministry arrested Moloud Safai and Mohammad Massoud Moini in Tehran on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 and took them to Evin prison, as part of a new wave of arrests of MEK Iran supporters. They are the sister and son of political prisoner Zahra Safai, currently held in the grim Qarchak prison.

The Ministry of Intelligence (Vevak) ransacked Ms. Safai's home and confiscated some of the family's personal belongings, including her and her son's cell phone.

Vevak agents took Moloud Safai (61), to district 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence in Evine.

Moloud Safai has previously been arrested for her peaceful activities. She spent three months in Ward 209 of Evin in 2011 for attending the funerals of MEK Iran’s political prisoners Ali Saremi, Jafar Kazemi and Mohsen Dokmetchi.

In 2012, Tehran's Revolutionary Court, chaired by Judge Salavati, sentenced her to 5 years in prison.

Ms. Safai's father was a prominent Tehran Bazaar businessman who was executed in 1981 for supporting the democratic opposition MEK Iran.

Her husband, Ebrahim Saidi, an employee of the communications department, was also executed by the regime in 1984.

His nephew, Mohammad Massoud Moini, was sentenced to six years in prison in January.

According to the verdict rendered on January 23, 2021 and made public on February 7, political prisoner Zahra Safai, her daughter, political prisoner Parastou Moini, and her son, Mohammad Massoud Moini, were sentenced to a total 20 years' imprisonment. Zahra Safai was sentenced to eight years in prison and her children were sentenced to six years each.

They are accused of "assembling and colluding against national security by communicating with the MEK Iran", "advancing the objectives of the oposition organization MEK Iran" and "participating in MEK Iran’s meetings". They are also accused of "propaganda activities against the state by writing slogans (on the walls), reading statements and posting banners on public roads".

Political prisoner Parastou Moini and her brother, Mohammad Massoud, were sentenced to five years in prison for “assembly and collusion” and to one year for “propaganda against the state”, for a total of six years in prison for each.
