Welcome!
I am interested in understanding how inequalities within families and inequalities in the labor market shape and reinforce one another.
My research explores the emergence of gender disparities in education, career choices, and earnings, with a particular focus on the role of social norms and normative expectations. More broadly, I study how societies come to define what is considered appropriate for women and men, how these expectations influence individual choices and economic outcomes, and how they evolve over time.
I am also interested in the short- and long-term effects of affirmative action and other policies aimed at promoting equal opportunities.
In previous work, I studied how monetary and non-monetary incentives interact with individual heterogeneity in preferences and motivations. Across these topics, I mainly rely on experimental and survey-experimental methods.
I have been an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Bologna (Italy) since  April 2020. I received my Ph.D. in Economics and Management from the University of Padua (Italy) in 2011. After completing my doctorate, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena (Germany) from 2011 to 2013, and an Assistant Professor at Lund University (Sweden) from 2013 to 2016.
My research has been published in international journals such as Economica, European Economic Review, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Psychology, and PLOS ONE. From 2022 to 2025, I served as Associate Editor of the Italian Economic Journal.
