The Council of Past Presidents (COPPs) shall be responsible for maintaining the history of the organization by serving as the historian to record institutional memory. The council shall assist in the preparation of future leaders of the organization. The council will support innovation that advances the mission and vision of the organization. All past presidents of the organization are eligible to serve on this committee.
Eligible Members
The Committee shall be composed of all those willing and able who were elected and served in the presidential triad (president-elect, president and past-president). The committee will have a chair or co-chairs selected from within the committee. The Committee Chair may not be currently serving NAPDS in the last year of their presidential duty as past president.
Chairs Duties
Serve as the liaison to the three presidents.
Convene committee meetings.
Attend monthly NAPDS Association Leadership meetings.
Share information from the Association Leadership meetings with the committee.
Oversee the operations of the committee.
The committee meets three to four times a year. Once in the summer, fall, spring and during the annual conference. The committee is either chaired or co-chaired. The chair or co-chairs are responsible for scheduling meetings, sending calendar invites, maintaining meeting minutes, and following up with committee members on any action items.
Decisions are discussed within the committee. All views and opinions are heard and valued before consensus is finally determined.
