Welcome to Nano's Zoo 2 Zone! This site hosts fan-made content for Blue Fang's Zoo Tycoon 2 that is designed to resemble the style of the vanilla game.

The main projects hosted on this site are Vanilla-Friendly Fixes, a lofty-but-lightweight bundle of QOL changes and fixes for bugs and oversights, and Folksy Facelift, a much heavier package than VFF that makes big changes. As of 2025, Folksy Facelift has been discontinued and is not receiving further updates, but it's still available to download for anybody interested (but keep in mind that VFF and FF aren't compatible with each other).

Another draw here is the Archival page, which provides readily-accessible links to Wayback Machine snapshots of online Zoo Tycoon history, both on the official Microsoft side of things and in the realm of fan sites and the like.

6/17/2025: Not only is there a new VFF patch available that fixes a couple of oversights, there's something new over in the Miscellany section. Don't take it too seriously.
5/31/2025: Vanilla-Friendly Fixes has been updated with some New! fixes and QOL changes. Sound interesting? Hop on down into VFF's burrow to grab it!

Vanilla-Friendly Fixes

Fleeting flamingos got you down? Spent a fortune on panthers that aren't as popular as you hoped? Guests cheaping out on dolphin donations? If you've got gameplay guff with Zoo Tycoon 2, Vanilla-Friendly Fixes is here to try and set things right.

Fixes to genuine problems, quality of life adjustments, and a desire to be as unobstructive and cohesive with the vanilla game as possible are the main goal of VFF. It even plays nice with most other downloads: custom fossils can show up in the Extinct Animals campaigns, there's even a measure in place to try and keep guests from being scared of contained animals!
