Students play a big role in AFJROTC here at NA. Students run most of the extracurriculars provided through JROTC, with teachers mostly being supervisors and guides. Along with this, students also help by running other things that the corps needs like uniform distribution, event planning, event management, etc.
The Squadron Commander is the senior-most cadet in the squadron. This cadet is responsible for guiding the corps in the completion of the established unit goals. The Commander directly reports to the ASI and SASI and supervises the command staff.
The Superintendent is responsible for all matters of morale and discipline within the corp. They will suggest and organize approved morale trips, activities, events, etc. that improve the socialization of the cadets and the morale of the corps as a whole. They are also responsible for the organization of the promotion boards every nine weeks. The cadet chosen as the Superintendent will report directly to the Cadet Commander.
The Operations Officer is in charge of all extracurricular activities in the corps. It is their job to schedule, organize, and plan with the team commanders of each activity. The Operations Officer must also work with in-class staff such as the Flight Commander and be able to set up connections with main staff to their in-class equivalent to encourage each flight to take part in corps activities and events.
The Communications/Public Affairs Officer is responsible for maintaining adequate communication throughout the corps. It is the Communications/Public Affairs Officer’s prerogative to ensure that information regarding activities and happenings in the corps is publicized in an easily accessible, digestible way. It is also their responsibility to operate social media to ensure that people outside of the corps know what JROTC is doing for the community and school.
The Personnel Officer is in charge of ensuring that cadet information is current and accurate. They ensure that all personnel files are updated within 5-8 school days after special orders have been read in class. Updating the files includes reviewing cadet profiles in Wings, alongside the in-class paper copies. They are responsible for spot-checking 201 files and ensuring they are up to date and accurate. They report to the Squadron Commander during staff meetings on the activity and productivity of the squadron. The Personnel Officer performs other tasks assigned by the Squadron Commander, which may include anything along with the terms of promotions, awards, rank, and cadet information. They also make sure that everything is up to date in Wings.
The Squadron Logistics Officer is in charge of uniforms. Uniforms include service dress, service, and ABU uniforms. The Logistics Officer will communicate with the ASI and the SASI to order new uniforms for the corps. They will learn the sizes for uniform items. They will also keep track of who has what piece of clothing through Wings. They will master the uniform and help others master it as well. They are also in charge of the logistics room at NAI.
The Squadron Technology Officer assists others in problems that deal with software and hardware. They help others manage problems that arise from operating the flight simulators. They are also responsible for helping other cadets operate and learn how to use the technologies JROTC has. Additionally, they are responsible for the setting up of technology equipment in any event that occurs; for example, NA’s annual Elective Fair.
