This week the task idea was to know about fusion 360 program and how it works , and discovering different examples to get used to it .
I got inspired from the tutorials , as I learned the main aim of the program and how to use it and knew more about Its interface .
software used : fusion 360 program , I started to sketch different drawings to practice on it ( the nuke symbol and the catapult ) , this was through watching the tutorials to know how to start sketching .
The nuke symbol
-First thing I started a new sketch , and picked the plane to work on
-Then I started to draw the outer triangle with poly line tool
-After this I drew the two circles at the center of intersection of the triangle medians
-Then I started to draw the poly lines from the center with Its specified angles
-The last thing I used the trim tool to trim the unwanted parts of the circles .
-Then I extruded the shape 3mm with the thickness of the wood to be ready for laser cutting .
Using circular patterns :
-The same steps of the previous drawing till the drawing of the two circles
-After this I drew only two polylines from the center
-Trimmed the other parts
-Then From the create panel -> insert circular panel
-Selected the shape and the center
-The other two parts are drawn
-The last step was to extrude the shape
Constraints :
-After drawing the nuke symbol it's still not fully defined
-I started to make it defined through different constraints :
Horizontal constraint for the base
making from the center construction line (colinear with the lines from the center )
Adding angles and dimensions
Catapult Drawing
Ball thrower and DMS
First I started to draw the left part with a single line with the dimensions then I mirrored it
Then I started to draw the middle rectangle with it’s dimensions, then I trimmed the extra parts made it not defined
I made a constraint (dimensions)
mirror to this part (Dimensions to be defined )
I drew construction lines to draw the two circles with a distance 89.01 then trimmed the two circles .
Wheel stick DMS
I drew two rectangles with half of the specified dimension
To make the upper part defined i started to put its dimension
Then i mirrored the drawn part
The final shape fully defined
Wheel DMS
-First I drew the circle with the specified diameter at the origin point
-then I drew the rectangle with it’s dimensions
-To make the rectangle defined to the circle constraint(Midpoint from the center of the rectangle on the circles center )
Side holder DMS
I started to draw the rectangle with half of the dimensions , and the smaller rectangle the i added a midpoint constraint
trimmed the extra parts
I drew the other parts of the T SLOT with the same as the first step
Side holder DMS
Fixed points to make it fully defined
Then I mirrored the drawn part
The final shape after being fully defined
Side DMS
I started to draw the left part with the T slot
I started to draw the holes with it's dimensions , then I mirrored the previous step
I drew the other parts with the same sequence
Make constraints (Dimensions and fixed point )
Bow DMS
I started to draw the right part with diameters of the circles
Then I trimmed the extra parts and added fixed points to be fully defined
Then i mirrored the drawn part
Final sketch components
Joining the catapult
First i extruded with a new component
Then I started to join these parts together to the side (Ground )
Mobile holder
Firstly I got inspired from different mobile holders made with laser cutter then i started with the pre activity to design the mobile holder with cardboard , this helped me to know the dimensions i need to make a real mobile holder with the laser cutter , i started to think to make it with another function as to be with a part that can be used to put on it a pencil case , cup ...
The mobile holder consists of 5 parts , with these dimensions
Side holder
Firstly i drew the whole part
I started to draw the T slots , then mirrored it on the same side
I drew the two rectangles on the top then added a constraint (Dimension )
-the same as the first step regarding the T slots , then i fixed points to make in Fully defined
Mobile holder side
Firstly i drew the whole part with Its dimensions
I started to draw the holes for the T slots , and the rectangle on one side with dimensions and fixed points to be fully defined
I mirrored the previous step
Back side
Firstly i drew the whole part with the T slot and holes
I mirrored the previous step to get the whole shape
Added constraints (Dimensions , fixed point ) to make it fully defined
Top side
Firstly I drew the two rectangles and the hole
I mirrored the previous step to get the whole shape
Added constraints to make it fully defined
Joining the mobile holder
I started to extrude each drawing as a new component then selected one component to be the ground which was the side holder
Then I started to join the components together through the assembly panel
The final shape of it
Final shape
To start the fabrication process I prepared the file on laser works , then I went to the lab to start the laser cutting process
-Firstly I imported the file to laser works on the computer connected to the laser cutter , and then click on download
-Then I got the plywood sheet and put it inside the machine
-After this I chose the file on the laser cutter and started to change the origin place from the arrows on the machine to fit the work area, then I started to check the following :
1.If the work area is contains the design or not by choosing the file then selecting track frame
2.The estimated time : After finishing the track frame I chose the file again and selected worktime preview which was 2 minutes
The last thing was to choose the file and click on Run , then I closed the machine .
-After the machine finished I made sure that all the file was cut clearly then I took off the plywood sheet with the design cut in it .
I started the assembly from the side holders and started to connect them with the back part , then connected it with the face of the mobile holder , I had some problems during the assembly because of the location of the T slots , but at the end it worked to be used as a mobile holder but it needed some modifications to work perfectly
-Yes I took feedback from the instructors on my work , I learnt from my peers from their questions during the session , as in the catapult drawing someone asked about a specific dimension in a part of the drawing , i had the same problem so I knew It's answer .
During sketching I had a problem with making the sketch fully defined , and to add constraints to it , I didn't know which one is appropriate to which part .
I started to relate the sketches to the origin point but this was not a good solution
I returned to the instructor during the session and I knew that when making a point fixed , It acts as a the origin point and makes the sketch fully defined .
At this week , I learned a new program (Fusion 360 ) which i will use in the final project to sketch it and import it to the laser works to start cutting it .
