Week 3: Digital Image - Logo/Flyer for my mini course.
Reflection on Image Use in Meditation Practice for Beginners Flyer
How does the image fit within your minicourse? The selected image of a serene calming person meditation in a nature scene perfectly complements the theme of my minicourse, “Meditation Practice for Beginners.” It visually represents the tranquility and peace that meditation aims to cultivate. If used as part of a module, this image aligns with the learning objective of helping participants understand the importance of creating a calm and conducive environment for meditation.
Which learning objective(s) does it align with? The image is general and aligns with the idea of inclusivity as I tried to find something appealing to any and everyone. I also feel the also lines up with the learning objective of learners enhancing their overall wellbeing, where participants learn to establish a regular meditation practice that will provide many benefits. It reinforces the idea that effectiveness of meditation can easily be done.
What are your ideas for meeting digital design standards? To meet digital design standards, I focused on ensuring the image is high-resolution and optimized for both web and print formats. I adhered to principles of accessibility by choosing an image with sufficient contrast and clarity. Additionally, I ensured that the image is responsive and looks good on various devices, from desktops to eReaders and cell phones. I marked it as decorative so that anyone using a screen reader would not be impacted.
What was your thought process behind your logo design? The logo design incorporates elements of simplicity and calmness, reflecting the essence of meditation. I chose a minimalist design with soft colors to evoke a sense of peace and relaxation. The logo features a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and enlightenment, which are core aspects of meditation.
What changes did you make to the original Creative Commons image? I made slight adjustments to the original Creative Commons image to better fit the course’s aesthetic. This included enhancing the brightness and contrast to make the image more visually appealing and cropping it to focus on the most serene part of the scene. The original image can be found on Canva using a pro account.
By thoughtfully selecting and modifying this image, I aimed to create a visual that not only aligns with my course content but also meets high digital design standards.
