This project explored the impact technology has on societies around the world. Each student was instructed to research a country and find a partner to compare the ways the digital world has impacted the region. We focused on topics such as demographics, languages, and technology access.
I chose to research the country Sweden as I have heard about their advancements in sustainability and was interested in learning more about their developments.
My project partner explored the technology usage in South Korea as it opened the opportunity to grow in knowledge about family heritage.
An interesting fact I learnt when comparing the two regions is that Sweden is larger than South Korea by four times. Although South Korea’s population is almost five times larger than Sweden! Interestingly, a lot of this has to do with the climate of certain areas of Sweden.
From this project I have learned how much societies rely on technology to function as a unit. Integration of technology in education systems, work settings, and households is a privilege that fosters efficient exchange of information. Without technology or understanding many individuals experience isolation. It is important that technology usage is balanced. Whether it is through prioritizing human connection or being global citizens that work to lower the digital divide it is important to close the separation in digital usage.
My project partner and I connected on a discussion board provided by the class. We exchanged research data through Outlook and collaborated on PowerPoint. Below is a sample of our findings and comparisons.
