BTRIX Music

I want you to be able to read music. You don't need to be great at it. Just be able to understand the easy music you might see in the sheet music of a popular song, or a hymn at a religious service to name just two examples.

The second reason for learning this, in my opinion, is to discover the history of notation. The most important developments in our music history occurred somewhat slowly. What we hear now is the result of significant discoveries and changes. Especially the idea of chordal harmony that predominates our culture today. People used to listen to simultaneous melodies creating harmony. Today they hear prearranged harmony not knowing how it came about.

Watching children create music on a tablet device with the use of AI strikes me as an Alice in Wonderland moment where people are oblivious to the machine creating our experience rather than our own intellect.

I hope these chapters help you learn about this modern development.
