The Clef Sign is one the most important things to recognize at the beginning of a song.
You could place notes on a staff, but without a Clef sign indicating the pitch, you wouldn’t know exactly which pitch the note represents!
My approach to teaching this subject suggests it’s more important to know how long a note will last than to know which note it is! Thinking you need to have the specific name of a note when you're reading music could induce a paralysis of the brain leading to a short term coma, or nap.
There are Instruments and Melodies that require a different Clef. The Bass clef is the next most often used clef.
The line between the dots represents F. The Bass Clef is often called the F Clef.
THE GRAND STAFF IS WHAT KEYBOARD PLAYERS USUALLY READ.
LEDGER LINES extend the range of notes a STAFF can represent.
Small lines above and below the staff are LEDGER LINES.
These lines enable the notation to indicate pitches that aren’t seen with just the Treble and Bass clef.
If needed the abbreviation 8va, or 16va could be used above, or below notes, instead of ledger Lines, or even with them.
