916 String Orchestra

Level 3: One or more years           1.0 credit per year                                     Grades 9-12

Prerequisite: Orchestra is open to all qualified students who have the approval of the director.

The String Orchestra performs at a grade 3-4 NYSSMA level. In addition to daily rehearsals, each orchestra member is required to attend one group lesson per week, which is scheduled on a rotating basis. Orchestra requirements include all regularly scheduled school concerts and may include participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, Long Island String Festival (LISFA), Major Organizational festivals and additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students. 

906 Symphony Orchestra

Level 2: One or more years           1.0 credit per year                                 Grades 10-12

Prerequisite: This course is open to students qualified students who have the approval of the director. 

The Symphony Orchestra performs at a grade 5-6  NYSSMA level. In addition to daily rehearsals, each orchestra member is required to attend one group lesson per week, which is scheduled on a rotating basis. Orchestra requirements include all regularly scheduled school concerts and may include participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, Long Island String Festival (LISFA), Major Organizational festivals and additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students.
