952 Concert Band

Level 3: One year                                           1.0 credit                                      Grade 9

Prerequisite: Concert Band is open to all qualified students who have the approval of the Director. 

The Concert Band performs at a grade 4 NYSSMA level.  In addition to daily rehearsals within the school day, each member is required to attend one group lesson per week, which is scheduled on a rotating basis.  Students in the Concert Band will also be registered for 926 Marching Band.  Concert Band requirements include all regularly scheduled school concerts and may include participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, SCMEA, Major Organizational festivals and additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students. 

904 Symphonic Band

Level 3: One or more years             1.0 credit per year                                 Grades10-12

Prerequisite: Concert Band

The Symphonic Band performs at a grade 5 NYSSMA level.  In addition to daily rehearsals within the school day, a weekly small-group lesson is required which is scheduled on a rotating basis.  Students in the Symphonic Band are also registered for 926 Marching Band.  Symphonic Band requirements include all regularly scheduled school concerts and may include participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, SCMEA, Major Organizational festivals and additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students. 

905 Wind Ensemble

Level 2: One or more years           1.0 credit per year                              Grades 10-12

Prerequisite:   Concert Band, audition, and approval of the director. 

The Wind Ensemble performs repertoire of the highest difficulty level. In addition to daily rehearsal within the school day, each member is required to attend one group lesson per week, which is scheduled on a rotating basis. Students in the Wind Ensemble are also registered for 926 Marching Band.  Wind Ensemble requirements include all regularly scheduled school concerts and may include participation in NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, SCMEA, Major Organizational festivals and additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students. 

926 Marching Band

Level 3: One or more years 0.25 credit per year                           Grades 9-12 

Prerequisite: This course is will be included for all students registered for 952, 904 and 905.

Marching Band begins with a 5-day Band Camp during the summer, culminating in a parent performance. Performances during the year include, but are not limited to, halftime shows for home football games, marching band festivals, and parades.
