902 Concert Choir

Level 3: One year                    1.0 credit per year                                    Grades 9

Students will learn to improve their individual vocal skills and performance techniques as well as learn the skills required for ensemble singing and performing. Pitch awareness, rhythmic ability, voice tone quality, proper articulation, music reading skills and vocal style are reinforced during the daily large group chorus instructional period and through weekly small group lessons. Students are afforded the opportunity to perform at scheduled school concerts and at additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students.

Connetquot Chorale

903 Connetquot Chorale

Level 2: One or more years             1.0 credit per year                              Grades 10-12

Prerequisite: Concert Choir

Students will learn to improve their individual vocal skills and performance techniques as well as learn the skills required for ensemble singing and performing. Pitch awareness, rhythmic ability, voice tone quality, proper articulation, music reading skills and vocal style are reinforced during the daily large group chorus instructional period and through the required weekly small group instructional sessions. Students are afforded the opportunity to perform at scheduled school concerts and at additional performances planned jointly by the instructor and students. 

Chamber Singers

970 Chamber Singers

Level  2: One or more years                 1.0 credit                                     Grades 10-12

Prerequisite: Audition, approval of the director and 902 or 903. 

This ensemble will study and perform challenging choral repertoire at concerts, events, and festivals. Chamber Singers strive for the highest musical standards of excellence set forth by the NYS Learning Standards of the Arts.  Advanced choral skills, including proper pitch awareness, rhythmic ability, voice tone quality, articulation and music reading skills will be refined.  Each member is required to attend one group lesson per week, which is scheduled on a rotating basis.
