For Summer School, my co-teachers and I co-designed a UBD-aligned unit to support both our students and first-year teachers. We split up lessons, shared feedback, and co-taught in ways that played to our individual strengths. I contributed lesson planning templates, assessment tools, and facilitation strategies. We regularly checked in to make sure the pacing made sense and that all voices were heard—including student feedback from pre- and post-activities.
Throughout the year, I also collaborated with stakeholders beyond my immediate classroom. I interviewed parents as part of a community-centered project to better understand how families viewed learning and engagement. I sat in on other teachers’ classes, outside my content area, to grow my instructional toolkit and gain new strategies for differentiation. At the end of the year, I gathered student feedback to guide curriculum improvements. I'm in the process of anonymizing these interviews and reflections to include as artifacts.
I have also planned cross curricular units with classmates. Below you can see how we combined Social Studies and Algebra as one educational unit.
