When students struggled, I implemented tiered interventions like targeted re-teaching in small groups, modified rubrics, and opportunities for oral assessments. Assessment wasn't just about grading—it was about giving students multiple paths to demonstrate growth.
IB Assessments
The assessments in my class are different than the traditional classes that are taught because all of our assessments are Essay/Research Paper based.
For Theory of Knowledge, we have the TOK Exhibition and the TOK Essay. The Exhibition is a 950 word paper that answers how knowledge manifests in the real world by using 3 objects to address one out of 35 questions. This is 1/3 of students total assess grade. The TOK Essay is a 1,600 word paper that answers a one out of six prefix titles of the students choosing. These questions change year to year and must be answered with reference to two different AOKs. You can find the TOK Essay Guide that I made for my students here!

Extended Essay
I am also the Extended Essay advisor at my school; so I guide all of our candidates on a year long process to write a 4,000 word research paper on a topic of their choosing. This is a separate IB Assessment than the TOK papers.
The students are requires to check in with their research advisor, show how their research progresses, complete reflection forms, and finally submit a completed research paper. The guide I made for the Extended Essay can be found here!
This assessment is graded separately, but when graded in conjunction with their TOK assessment, they can get up to 3 extra points towards their required 24 points for the IB Diploma.
