• Friday, November 6, 2026 — SWIBA HS Honor Band registration due

• Wednesday, November 11, 2026 — Veterans Day Assembly (HS Concert Band performs; students wear concert black to school)

• Saturday, December 12, 2026 — SWIBA HS Honor Band auditions (snow date Wednesday, December 16)

• Monday, December 21, 2026 — Band & Choir Winter Concert, 5:30 p.m., Mount Ayr High School

• Saturday, January 16, 2027 — NWMSU Four-State Honor Band, Maryville, MO (selected students)

• Monday, January 18, 2027 — SWIBA HS Honor Band Festival (selected students; snow date Wednesday, January 20)

• Monday, February 22, 2027 — Band & Choir Pops Concert, 5:30 p.m., Mount Ayr High School

• Monday, March 1, 2027 — Pride of Iowa (POI) Honor Band, hosted at Mount Ayr (selected students; guest conductor Dr. Trent Hollinger)

• Saturday, April 17, 2027 — IHSMA Solo & Small Ensemble Contest

• Monday, April 26, 2027 — Merrill Perry Band & Choir Concert, 5:30 p.m.

• Friday, May 7, 2027 — IHSMA Large Group Contest

• Sunday, May 16, 2027 — HS Graduation Band, 3:30 p.m., MACS gym

All performances are required. Honor band events are for students who audition or are selected.

HS Concert Band

Concert Band is the heart of the high school program. Students rehearse daily, build fundamentals with Foundations for Superior Performance, and prepare a full year of concerts plus the IHSMA Large Group Contest.

• IHSMA Large Group Contest: May 2027.

• Graduation Band: Sunday, May 16, 2027, 3:30 p.m., MACS gym.

Honor Bands & Opportunities

• SWIBA HS Honor Band: registration due November 6; auditions Saturday, December 12 (snow date December 16); festival Monday, January 18, 2027.

• NWMSU Four-State Honor Band: Saturday, January 16, 2027, Maryville, MO.

• IHSMA Solo & Ensemble in the spring.

Repairs & Supplies

A Lanham Music representative visits the school weekly. Fill out a repair slip and turn it in with your instrument; Lanham calls a parent/guardian with an estimate before any work begins. Payment is cash or check made payable to Lanham Music. Reeds, valve oil, and other supplies are sold at school (cash).
