2026–27 6th Grade Band Events

• Tuesday, October 27, 2026 — Band & Choir Fall Concert, 5:30 p.m., Mount Ayr High School

• Monday, December 21, 2026 — Band & Choir Winter Concert, 5:30 p.m., Mount Ayr High School

• Monday, February 22, 2027 — Band & Choir Pops Concert, 5:30 p.m., Mount Ayr High School

• Monday, April 26, 2027 — Merrill Perry Band & Choir Concert, 5:30 p.m.

All performances are required.

Welcome to 6th Grade Band

Year two! 6th Grade Band builds on everything students learned as beginners: stronger tone, more notes and rhythms, and playing together as a full band. Students also continue small-group lessons by instrument. 6th Grade Band meets at Mount Ayr High School, which houses grades 6–12.

Expectations

• Practice at home most days. Short, focused practice beats one long session.

• Band Karate: students keep earning belts by passing playing checks throughout the year.

• Bring every day: instrument, music and binder, pencil, and supplies (reeds, valve oil, sticks).

Concerts

6th Grade Band performs at the Fall Band & Choir Concert on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Other concert dates for the year are on the Events & Calendar page.

Rentals, Repairs & Supplies

Rentals and repairs go through Lanham Music (rental page). Reeds, valve oil, and other supplies can be purchased at school.
