2026–27 5th Grade Band Events

• Tuesday, December 15, 2026 — 5th Grade Band performs with the Elementary Winter Concert 10am and 2pm

Welcome, 5th Grade Band Families!

5th grade is where your student's band journey begins. Students rehearse as a band and also meet in small-group pull-out lessons by instrument at the elementary school, so they get focused help on their own instrument every week.

What to Expect

• Small-group lessons: students meet with Mr. Walker in instrument groups (woodwinds, brass, percussion) during the school day. Lesson days and times are posted on the Lessons Schedule page under Resources.

• Daily practice: short, regular practice at home is the #1 thing that helps a beginner succeed. Aim for a few minutes most days.

• Band Karate: students earn "belts" by passing short playing checks. It's a fun way to set goals and track progress.

Instruments, Rentals & Supplies

Instrument rentals and supplies go through Lanham Music: Lanham band & orchestra instrument rentals. A Lanham representative visits the school weekly for repairs. Reeds, valve oil, and other supplies can be purchased at school.
