Work Life Services and the Office of the Chaplains’ care team offers free and confidential clinical and chaplaincy care to all New York City Transit, MTA Bus, and Staten Island Railway employees. Chaplaincy care is also available to all MTA employees.
Our team of dedicated clinicians provides a holistic approach to employee care, encompassing mental health, emotional support, substance abuse, domestic violence, loss, and grief.
Our clinicians can provide assessment and professional referrals for the following:
Alcohol and drug assessment
Mental health assessment and care
Stress management and stress reduction
Workplace conflict
Domestic violence awareness and prevention
Batterers‘ intervention for victims and offenders
Mandated mental health concerns
Psychological first aid
Our experienced Work Life Services coordinator can assist employees in determining the best type of care for their needs, recommending either Work Life Services or the Office of the Chaplains. Our administrative staff provides confidential support and assistance with the admissions process.
The Office of the Chaplains is a unique unit within Work Life Services. It consists of the chief chaplain, an administrative chaplain/ manager, and over 70 volunteer chaplains, some of whom are MTA employees. Each has many years of experience providing chaplaincy care.
All MTA employees can access chaplaincy services in the following ways.

Referral by a supervisor
Internal referral by Work Life Services
Emotional reactions to stressful situations are normal. If you are feeling anxious, sad, overwhelmed, or finding it difficult to sleep, please contact your agency’s Work Life Services or Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at the appropriate numbers listed here.
Free Stress Relief technique courses are available to our employees. The Community Online Academy at MTA Perks at Work offers live and recorded classes on mediation, yoga, mindfulness, workouts, and other stress-reduction techniques. See resource section below for more information.
