We offer Top-of-the-line health, wellness, work-life services, and more…
The MTA offers excellent health benefits for individuals, families, and domestic partnerships. We offer medical, dental, and vision plans through our network of participating provider organizations (PPOs) or a choice of high-quality Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). There are no employee premium contributions for dental and vision coverage. The MTA offers lifetime health, dental, and vision coverage for eligible retirees and their eligible dependents with no retiree contributions.
The MTA offers many ways to save and prepare for retirement. One of the unique benefits available at the MTA is a traditional defined benefit pension plan. The specific plan you may be eligible to participate in will depend on the MTA working agency.
The MTA Deferred Compensation Program can be used to help build a stronger financial future for our employees and their loved ones. Employees can participate in either or both the 401(k) and/or 457 Plans, which offer the opportunity to save for retirement on a pre-tax basis or with Roth contributions. Participants in these plans have control of how their savings are invested, and account balances grow tax-deferred until withdrawn.
Employees will receive up to 2 commutation passes depending on eligibility to travel via MTA agencies’ subways, railroads, or buses. Bridges and Tunnels employees will receive an E-ZPass. Eligible non-agreement retirees will receive a lifetime transportation pass.
The MTA provides a good work-life balance with 3 weeks of vacation time beginning the first year and 12 paid holidays per year for non-agreement employees. For agreement employees, please refer to your CBA for details.
The MTA offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Plan and a Commuter Benefit Plan. These plans help employees pay less FICA, federal and state taxes while providing a convenient way to pay for out of pocket health care and dependent care costs (through the FSA) and transit and parking expenses (through the Commuter Plan).
MTA benefits include basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment coverage at no cost to employees. Choices of optional supplemental life insurance for spouses and eligible dependent children are available at a cost (employees have to make a selection for the supplemental plans).
Eligible employees qualify for Long Term Disability (managers and non-managers) and Short Term Disability (managers only) after a period of time with the agency.
We currently have an Educational Reimbursement Plan available for our employees.
Participating employees can take advantage of significant discounts on everyday purchases, like meals, gifts, apparel, cars, home improvements, and vacations. It’s free to join, and other family members can join too. Employees see an average savings of $1,471 per year while earning points that can be redeemed like cash for additional savings.
After one year of service, you may be eligible for up to 12 weeks of leave in a 12-month period for a serious health condition experienced by yourself or a covered family member. You may also be eligible for NYS Paid Family Leave, Military Leave and/or Sick Leave.
Work Life Services and the Office of the Chaplains’ care team offers free and confidential clinical and chaplaincy care to employees, encompassing mental health, emotional support, substance abuse, domestic violence, loss, and grief.
