Our program, with the support of our medical school, hospital system and department, strives to create an inclusive setting for our learners, employees and patients. In order to excel in education and healthcare delivery, we are committed to innovation and leadership in advocacy, diversity, equity and inclusion. We recognize the need to ensure that our faculty, staff, residents and students represent the diverse community that we serve and we strive to recruit from a broad range of backgrounds. We are supported in this mission by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Our department has continued to strengthen its commitment to diversity, inclusion and health equity by establishing a Health Equity Taskforce. The Health Equity Taskforce investigates how health inequities are affecting the communities that we serve and how our department can work to improve these inequities. Our residents are active members of this task force. When workplace diversity and awareness of health inequities increases, health and well-being of our learners, employees, and patients also increases. Our department is committed to integrity and accountability, and we strive as a department and as individuals to recognize, cultivate, and promote all forms of diversity and to fully understand the needs of our communities.
