Welcome to the Residency Program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Morningside (formerly St. Luke’s) and Mount Sinai West (formerly Roosevelt). We are a four-year, fully accredited program that balances academic and clinical experience. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to enter any subspecialty fellowship program within obstetrics and gynecology, or to begin practicing as a general obstetrician and gynecologist. Located on New York City’s Upper West Side, Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West are members of the Mount Sinai Health System and academic affiliates of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Our residency program’s mission is to train the next generation of physicians in such a way that they will thrive in their careers as clinicians, educators, researchers, and leaders in obstetrics and gynecology. We ensure a rigorous yet supportive educational environment by providing expertise, resources, and broad clinical experience, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to the finest and most comprehensive women’s health care, the teaching and training of fully qualified obstetrician/gynecologists, and to continued research into new therapies in the field. The department has 80 attending physicians in all major divisions, covering the depth and breadth of the specialty. Annually, we perform about 6,000 deliveries, 2,300 gynecologic surgeries, and 27,000 fetal evaluation procedures. In addition, we provide clinic services in general obstetrics, general gynecology, and all subspecialties; these total 26,000 visits annually.
Mount Sinai West is located on Tenth Avenue at West 59th Street, near the southwest corner of Central Park. Further north on Manhattan’s Upper West Side is Mount Sinai Morningside, on Amsterdam Avenue at 114th Street. Between the two hospitals, resident physicians are exposed to a broad range of experiences and patient populations.
